May 12, 2028 — A bomb exploded last night at a Los Angeles clinic that specializes in fetal cosmetic surgery. No one was injured in the blast, which caused an estimated $40 million in damages.
The bomb went off about 10:22 p.m. at the Pretty Baby Clinic in Beverly Hills. Authorities would not comment publicly on the investigation into the incident, but police sources who spoke to FU on condition of anonymity said they believe the National Infant Protection League (NIPL) is responsible for the bombing. The group opposes any kind of laparoscopic plastic surgery on fetuses, which are normally conducted after parents view photos of their baby from an ultrasound and decide they want certain features changed.
A Los Angeles County Court last month ordered NIPL members to stop picketing in front of the clinic and harassing pregnant women coming into the facility.
The Fetal Beauty League of America (FBLA) issued a statement this morning calling the incident a hate crime, and vowed to work with authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
“Parents have a right to sculpt their fetuses anyway they like so they can give birth to the most beautiful babies possible,” said Patricia Williams, FBLA President. “No one has any right to tell parents what they can do with their own baby’s body and face.”
NIPL spokesman I.M. Wright denied that the group had any involvement in the bombing, but added that such clinics should expect more of the same until they “stop subjecting innocent lives to involuntary nose jobs and tummy tucks.”
Beverly Hills Mayor Patrick Dempsey called the bombing an outrage, but offered no comment on his views about prenatal cosmetic surgery. In the past, he has said that he opposes the practice except for parents who want their children to have modeling or acting careers.
