November 21, 2028 – People.com has named Jon Heder, the once-homely movie actor who underwent a face transplant several years ago, as its “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2028.
Heder tops a list of nearly two dozen “Men of the Year,” including actors Zac Efron, Connor Cruise, Shia LeBouf; singer Usher 2.0; and soon-to-be First Son Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
Some entertainment critics questioned the pick of Heder, 51, for the annual title, saying it glorifies cosmetic enhancement rather than inherent beauty. Heder, who shot to fame in the 2004 film Napoleon Dynamite and was often labeled Hollywood’s ugliest male celebrity, underwent the face transplant in 2021, and followed that with gene therapy that altered his physique. The treatment has left him with the looks of a 25-year-old supermodel.
But People editors said the selection of the Sexiest Man Alive rests solely on current appearance, not on how it was derived. He noted that other celebrities on the Men of the Year list have undergone similar cosmetic treatment. Those include actor Seth Rogen and retired major league pitcher Randy Johnson.
